| Facets | Facets are flat faces on geometric shapes. Organization of naturally occurring facets was key to early developments in Crystallography. Gemstones commonly have facets cut into them in order to improve their appearance. |
| Feldspar |
Feldspar
is the name of a group of rock-forming minerals which make up as
much as 60% of the Earth's crust. Feldspars crystallize from magma in igneous rocks, and they can also occur as compact minerals, as veins, and are also present in many types of Metamorphic rock. Feldspars are also found in many types of Sedimentary rock. |
| Gemstone | Gemstones (also referred to as Gems, Precious Gemstones or Semi-Precious Gemstones) is a piece of attractive mineral, Which, when cut and polished is used in the making of Jewelry. There are also certain rocks, and organic materials that are not minerals, but are also used in the making of jewelry. These are often considered to be gemstones as well. |
| Geology | Geology is the science and study of the solid matter that constitutes the Earth. Including such things as rocks, soil, and gemstones, geology studies the composition, structure, physical properties, history, and the processes that shape Earth's components. |
| Glass |
Glass
in the common sense refers to a hared, brittle, transparent
solid, such as used for windows, many bottles, and eyewear to
mention a few. In the technical sense, glass is an inorganic product of fusion which has been cooled to a rigid condition without crystallizing. Many glasses contain Silica as their main component. In the scientific sense the term glass is often extended to all amorphous solids however, glass science commonly includes only inorganic amorphous solids, which excludes plastics and similar organics. |
| Golden Beryl | Golden Beryl is a form of the mineral Beryl is a beryllium aluminum cyclosilicate. Clear Bright Yellow Beryl is called Golden Beryl. |
| Goshenite | The mineral Beryl is a beryllium aluminum cyclosilicate. Pure beryl is colorless and is called Goshenite. |
| Heliodor | Heliodor is a form of the mineral Beryl is a beryllium aluminum cyclosilicate. Yellow-Green Beryl is called Heliodor. |
| Inclusions | Inclusions are defined by The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as "characteristics which are entirely inside a stone or extend into it from the surface." These internal clarity characteristics, refer to natural impurities or markings |
| Igneous rocks | Igneous rocks are rocks formed by solidification of cooled magma (molten rock), with or without crystallization. |
| Inorganic compounds |
Traditionally,
inorganic compounds are considered to be of mineral, not
biological, origin. Complementarily, most organic compounds are
traditionally viewed as being of biological origin. Inorganic compounds can be formally defined with reference to what they are not organic compounds. Organic compounds are those which contain carbon, although some carbon-containing compounds are traditionally considered inorganic. |
