Named from the Greek
"rose-colored", Rhodochrosite is a remarkable rose-pink
colored by manganese. In the massive form, it is found along with Calcite
and Siderite, and forms banded stones, often in the form of Stalactites.
In this form it is an ornamental stone, used in art and jewelry.
Rhodochrosite also forms as small crystals. These are very rare, and are
seldom cut. These are collector's gemstones. |
